Make-a Some-a Marshana's Delicious Italian Soup at Library Cooking Class June 23

Our first Adult Summer Reading Program will be a cooking class on Tuesday, June 23, at 2 p.m. on Facebook Live. You can do this in your own home. Just go to the Dade County Public Library Facebook page and watch as library manager Marshana Sharp takes you through all the steps. If you can’t be at home at 2 p.m., just look for it later. The recipe is for Italian soup and you can make it as mild or as spicy as you like depending on your choices of ingredients.

Here is a list of the ingredients you will need: 1 pack of Johnsonville Italian sausages (links), 2 bell peppers and 1 small onion, 2 cans Hunt’s diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano, 1 24-oz. jar of Pace Picante sauce, tomato juice (just enough to thin soup, if necessary), and No Yolks dumplings (noodles). Your choices of Picante sauce and sausage will make your soup either mild or spicy. Marshanna will be giving directions and demonstrating how to make the soup on Facebook Live.

There will be some great prizes for adults who participate in Summer Reading, but you must register on BeanStack. Go to chrl.org and look for the icon to register.

Now for the kids. You can pick up craft packs for this week at the library between June 11 and 17. The Facebook Live program on the Sword in the Stone will be on Thursday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook Live on the Dade County Public Library page with Ms. Cristy. If you can’t catch it then, check back later and it should be posted on the site.

Our Touch Free Activity for June 18-24 is Eye Spy. Come by and check it out. For your kids to eligible for prizes, be sure and register them on BeanStack at chrl.org. There will be prize baskets and gift cards, but you must be registered to be eligible, kids, teens and adults.

There’s another Summer Reading Activity for Adults at the library. The Bank of Dade and the Dade County Public Library are sponsoring a game of Bingo and at the same time recognizing many of our Summer Reading sponsors. Come by the library and pick up a Bingo card and start playing. Directions are on the card. Once you have “Bingoed!” turn your card in at the library—the drawing will start on July 20 for $300 worth of gift cards provided by the Bank of Dade. You have until July 17 to Bingo.

Meals for kids will be available on Wednesdays at the library from noon to 2 p.m. through the month of June.
