My great-nephew really liked his sword and crown that he made last week from the craft kit we picked up at the library. There is a kit available each week through July 16, and on each Thursday morning at 10:30, our children’s specialist has a program on Facebook Live which includes how to put the craft together. Just go to the Dade County Public Library Facebook page to see that. If you can’t be there at that time, it will be posted there for your convenience.
There will also be a touch-free Activity at the library if you bring your kids in. This week there is another Mini Museum.
Remember, if you aren’t comfortable bringing your kids in yet, go to the PINES website and put the books you want on hold, then call the library at (706) 657-7857 to arrange a time for curbside pickup.
There was some confusion about the date for the cooking class for adults, and it was on Facebook Live on June 16 rather than the 23rd. But no problem, the video is still on Facebook and you can make that Italian soup any time you want to. Mrs. Marshana plans to do another cooking class on June 23, so look for it on Facebook as well.
Pick up craft kits for Rip Van Winkle’s beard this week and look for the Facebook Live program on Thursday, June 25.
Our Book Club for adults met on Zoom last week to discuss Lost Roses. Next month we will be discussing Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, a runaway bestseller, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of a possible murder. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month.
Many of the Dade County Historical Society’s plans have been put on hold indefinitely and right now the History Room is not open, but check out their Facebook page for articles being posted weekly.
Pick up your Bounce Back Bingo Card at the library and play for a chance to win gift cards. Directions are on the card. As you can see, this card already has some squares covered. If you get a Bingo, turn your card in before 2:00 PM on July 18. The drawings will be on July 20.
If you haven’t already, come by the library and pick up a Bounce Back Bingo card and start filling your squares. Follow the directions on the card, and if you Bingo by July 17, turn it in at the library to be in a drawing for gift cards from the Bank of Dade.
