Free Tutoring at Dade Library

A free tutoring program at your hometown library has been launched. There are tutors available at all four branches, Dade, Chickamauga, Lafayette and Rossville. You can pick up directions for scheduling a tutoring session at the library, or follow these directions:

  1. Go to chrl.org/tutor to access our online booking software 24/7.

  2. Pick a location. You can choose a tutoring session for any one of our four branch libraries.

  3. Pick a teacher. Read the bios carefully to choose the tutor who best suits your needs. None a good fit? Try another location.

  4. Pick a date and time. Choose a date on the calendar, then a time that works for you. Enter your contact info to complete the appointment. We ask you to have only three sessions on the calendar at one time.

  5. Get tutored! Come to your appointment! If you must cancel or reschedule, please give notice. Cancellations without notice may lead to expulsion from the program.

This week’s Ready-to-Read program is about Pumpkins. In-person programs are on Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. You must be registered for in-person and virtual programs. Be sure and pick up your craft kit before Thursday for the virtual program.

On Tuesday, October 6, there will be a virtual program on Facebook at 5:30 p.m. for teens and tweens. It will be on nylon sculptures. Call or come by the library to see what you need to do to prepare—(706) 657-7857.

Our usual Trick or Treat on the Square will have a different location this year and a bit of a different twist. It will take place on Saturday, October 24, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Dade County High School parking lot. Organizations may set up booths as usual but should get detailed information about this at the library. Trick or Treat will be drive-thru. Treats will be given out to children while they are in their cars.

There are two virtual 4-H programs that kids can register for. Clover Buds are for kids in third grade and under and it takes place on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Space is limited, and children must be preregistered.

The 4-H Community Club is for grades 4-12 and meets virtually on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Again, participants must be preregistered. Call or come by the library to register.
