ASCALON COMMUNITY, Ga.—Mike Odell Hawkins, 94, died Friday, June 24, 2016. Born on Feb. 15, 1922, he was a lifelong member of the Ascalon Community of Lookout Mountain and of Ascalon Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Hawkins and Mattie Ella Hollingsworth; his loving wife of 60 years, Clarice Jewell Matthews; five brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his four sons, Frank (Linda) Hawkins of Rising Fawn, David Hawkins of Lookout Mountain, Ricky Hawkins of Lookout Mountain, and Mike (Cindy) Hawkins Jr. of Chickamauga, Ga. Mike also leaves behind one daughter, Alberta (Ken) Morrison of Trenton, along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 at Ascalon Baptist Church with Bro. David Hale and Bro. Stan Chambers officiating. Interment will follow at the Ascalon Cemetery on Lookout Mountain.
Visitation was held Sunday in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home in Trenton and Monday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Ascalon Baptist Church prior to the service.
