New Salem, Ga.--Asa Raybourn Stinson, 79, died, Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Ind., and was retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a 32nd Degree Mason.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Opal Stinson; daughter, Dawn Michelle Rose; two infant children, Van Raybourn and Rebecca Joy; three brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Stinson; daughters, Vickie Ward and Susan (Terry) Royal; brother, Roger Stinson; three grandchildren, Lance (Sara) Royal, Blake Royal and Amy (Juan) Gonzalez; one great-grandchild, Mateo Gonzalez; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Post 106 were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Hawkins Cemetery with Brother Gary Bell officiating.
