Edd Newt



TRENTON, Ga.--Edward (Edd) Wilburn Newt, 77, died January 10, 2017. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking, but his favorite time was spent sitting on the bench at Walmart and Ingles witnessing to people wearing his “I Love Jesus” cap.

Edd worked in the Ross Mehan and Eureka Foundries for over 30 years and seven years for Moore’s Wrecker Service. He served his country eight years in the National Guard.

He is preceded in death by his son, Eddie Newt; parents, Henry and Viola Newt; brothers, Waymond Pope, Henry Newt and Charles Newt; sisters, Buna Frizzell, Louise Settles and Nina Brock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pat Newt; daughters, Pam (Tommy) Arnold and Crystal (David) Davis; nine grandchildren, Bridget Ricketts, Joey Arnold, Brooke Gilbert, Daniel Arnold, Brittney Gilbert, Chad Davis, Cody Davis, Brenden Arnold and Kayli Arnold; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca (Wiley) Frizzell of Signal Mountain and Emma (John) Tate of Memphis; brother, Jimmy (Dena) Newt; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, at Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan Goins, Bro. Anthony Pannell and Bro. Terry Colbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Baptist Cemetery, Trenton.

Visitation will be Thursday noon-8 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church.
