Hazel Wade


BRYANT, Ala.--Hazel Wade, 98, of Bryant died Monday, January 23, 2017, at her home. Ms. Wade retired from the Dade County Board of Education, having taught at Davis High School and Dade Elementary. Prior to teaching, Ms. Wade worked and paid her way through nursing school and worked many years as a nurse. She was a member of the Floral Crest Seventh-day Adventist Church. She spent her retired years traveling the U.S. and Canada.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Dewitt Wade Sr. and Lessie Lee Lippard Wade; brothers William Dewitt Wade Jr., Felix, John Leonard, Robert Macon, Ivie Lee, Arthur Burdelle and Calvin Wade; and sisters Verna Wade, Verda Wade and Mary Louise Swenson.

Surviving include her sister Bonnie Price; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 11, in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Leon Wade officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Floral Crest School in Ms. Wade’s memory.
