Steve Grizzle


Dennis Steven “Steve” Grizzle, 68, of Livingston, Ala., died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at home with his wife by his side. This was after a long battle with scleroderma and its complications.

Mr. Grizzle retired from EMR (Elevator Maintenance and Repair) in Chattanooga after 18 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and swimming as long as his health allowed, and he was a former board member of Southern Sportsman. He had attended Hiwassee College and Chattanooga State, where he earned a degree in applied electronics. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruth Grizzle of Coeburn, Va.; brother and sister-in-law Rodney and Clara Grizzle; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Mike Collins; and nephew Allen Collins; all of Abingdon, Va.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Lavonne Payne Grizzle, and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, Georgia Chapter, P.O. Box 522, Lilburn, GA 30048.

Visitation will be at Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton on Saturday, June 3, from 5-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Byrd’s Chapel Cemetery in Rising Fawn on Sunday, June 4, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Rob Couch officiating.
