Frank James Cordell Jr., 95, of Lookout Valley, Tenn., died Monday morning, July 17, 2017. He was a graduate of Dade County High School, class of 1938. Mr. Cordell was a veteran of World War II who had served in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He retired from Combustion Engineering of Chattanooga as a machinist. Mr. Cordell was a member of the Hill City Masonic Lodge #603, F&AM and York Rite College #152, Lookout Commandery #14, Knights Templar, Order of Eastern Star Lookout Valley Chapter #483. He was also a member of the Wauhatchie United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Cureton Cordell and son James Ronald Cordell.
Surviving include daughter Karen (Robert) Hetzler of Hixson, Tenn.; son Charles (Faye) Cordell of Lookout Valley; four grandchildren, Christopher Cordell, Kimberly Cooper, Stephan Hetzler and Philip Hetzler; great-grandson Cody Cordell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, in the chapel with Rev. Tommy Messer officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Garden West with Masonic rites and full military honors. Family will receive friends 3-8 p.m. on Thursday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday at Ryan Funeral Home.
