Former Dade County Soil Conservationist Joe Lee--Joseph Parks Lee--of Chickamauga died Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was 87.
Joe Lee had served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Masons, Alhambra Shrine and the Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Gordon and Minnie Sweet Lee; wife, Wanda Lee; three brothers, Gordon Lee, Thurman Lee and Charles "Dub" Lee; and one sister, Arietta Maxwell.
He is survived by his two children, William "Terry" Lee, Fredericksburg, Va., and Donna Bryant, Fort Oglethorpe; two sisters, Katherine Fouts and Lila Suiter; one grandchild, Christopher Lee; two great-grandchildren, Makenzie Lee and Adrianna Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Chickamauga City Cemetery.
