Oscar “Leo” Ellis Jr., 75, of Higdon, Ala., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017. Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served on the front lines during the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 106 and founder of the American Legion War Museum at Post 106. He attended Bryant Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar (Boots) Leo Ellis Sr.; mother and stepfather, Pauley and R.D. Moore; and brother, Dickie Moore.

Surviving include his loving wife of 45 years, Pat Saylor Ellis of Higdon; son, Lee (Virginia) Ellis of Bryant, Ala.; daughter, Carrie Ellis of Higdon; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Ellis, Samantha Bryant, Chris Cuzzort and Allison Holland; great-grandchildren, Conner Ellis, Brayden Ellis and Carter Bryant; sister Candy (Joe) Hux; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. EST Saturday, Sept. 16 at the American Legion Post 106 Museum with Rev. Gary Bell and Pastor Randy Taylor officiating.
