Jim Garner

James “Jim” Leonard Garner, 84, of Chattanooga died on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. He was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Scottsboro, Ala. Mr. Garner was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 45 years of service. Mr. Garner was an active member of the Lookout Valley Baptist Church for 61 years.

Surviving include his loving wife of 61 years, Myra Garner of Chattanooga; daughter and son-in- law, Jamie and Neil Garner Koonce of Knoxville; and grandsons Andrew Garner Koonce of Dallas, Texas, and William Ross Koonce of Hyde Park, N.Y.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Lookout Valley Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Renovation Fund, 23 Lilac Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37419.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Lookout Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Troy Walliser officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with military honors. Family will receive from 11:00 .a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at Lookout Valley Baptist Church.
