John Sidelinker


John Sidelinker, 82, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., died peacefully at home surrounded by family around 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

John was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Bangor, Maine, son of the late Urban and Mary Sidelinker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John loved golf and working with his hands. He will be missed greatly by those who love him and will continue to keep his memory alive.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Alice Sidelinker, and children Ronnie, Ricky, Danny and Sandy Pierce.

Survivors include his loving and cherished wife of 38 years, Barbara Sidelinker; brother Richard Sidelinker; sister Estelle Pearson; children Susan (Hal) McKaig, Trenton; Debbie (Gary) Roberts, Birmingham, Ala.; John (Leighann) Sidelinker, Salisbury, N.C.; Rick (Sue) Sidelinker, Akron, Ohio; Diane Lieving, Chattanooga; grandchildren Josh (Sara) McKaig, Lauren (Andrew) Jones, Anna (Joe) Strickland, Tina, Melissa, Dea Temper, Monica (Brian) Brasher, Ryan (Cassie) Lieving, Jeron (Wanda) Lieving, Adam Sidelinker and Ashley; great-grandchildren Reghan, Levi, Logan, Kerra, Adam, Will, Deanna, Gabriel, Bailey, Aiden, Payton, John, Ava and Jatlas.

John was a member of Rising Fawn Baptist Church where the family will have a celebration of his life at noon on Saturday, Oct. 7, with Pastor Tommy Crider officiating the service.
