George Ernest Jenkins Jr., 84, of Flat Rock, Ala., born Jan. 15, 1933, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Dade Health and Rehab. He had worked as a local mechanic for 40-plus years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Jenkins; parents, George Sr. and Jessie Jenkins; three sisters, Frankie Lou Jenkins, Edna Little and Ruth Jenkins; and one brother, Carl Jenkins.
He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Jenkins, Laura (Steven) Cooper and Melissa Daniels, and one brother, Ken (Elaine) Jenkins, all of Flat Rock; sister-in-law Sandra (Ray) Padgett of Mentone, Ala.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Deer Head Cove Cemetery with interment to follow. Family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ryan Funeral Home.
