Ken Kirkland

Kenneth “Ken” Bruce Kirkland, 45, of Higdon, Ala., died Oct. 7, 2017. He was born on Aug. 26, 1972, in Amarillo, Texas, to Bill and Linda Kirkland. He married his best friend, Autumn Millican, on Dec. 10, 2008.

Ken was a 1990 graduate of Highland Park High School in Amarillo. He was a proud patriot and was honored to have served his country in the U.S. Navy. Ken was a member of Bryant Baptist Tabernacle and he loved God with all his heart. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and all things gun. He had been a long-haul owner-operator truck driver and enjoyed every second he and his wife spent together hauling freight all over the country. He loved living, he was adventurous and spontaneous, and he always found the good in every situation. He was smart and talented; if he could dream it, he could build it, and there was nothing he couldn’t dream.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Morrison and Ara Cantrell Morrison of Dimmitt, Texas, and J. D. Kirkland and Della Calloway Kirkland of Hereford, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Autumn Kirkland; father, Bill (Judy) Kirkland, Amarillo; mother, Linda McKinney, Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Lee (Tessa) Kirkland, Abilene, Texas; aunt, Sharon Epperson, Phoenix; uncle, David Morrison, White Oak, Texas; father and mother-in-law, Rev. Dwight and Betty Millican, Higdon; grandmother-in-law, Linnie Gore, Higdon; brother-in-law, John Millican, Higdon; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Prichett, Ider, Ala.; Angie Millican, Higdon; Dawn Millican, Higdon; Leslie (Mark) Starkey, Higdon; and a very special aunt, Carolyn Hurst, Ider; 16 nieces and nephews, five great-nieces; and a multitude of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. EDT in the Bryant chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Dwight Millican, Rev. Wayne Winters and Rev. Sam Whited officiating. Interment will follow in the Higdon Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday 3-8 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. EDT at Moore Funeral Home, Bryant.
