J.L. Black



John C. “J.L.” Black of Lookout Mountain, Ga., born June 27, 1933, died Saturday, November 25, 2017.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After serving a full term with the Air Force, he enlisted with the U.S. Army.

He was a faithful servant of God, family and his country. He was pastor of Trinity Holiness Church and had retired from Combustion Engineering in 1984. He served as chaplain for American Legion Post 106 in Trenton. He had also served as a member of the Dade County Board of Education. He was a Georgia state senator for a full term and served again during a special session. He also had a TV and radio ministry for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Bessie Black, brother, Junior Black, and sister, Carolyn Sanchez.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Delma Lee York Black; son, Aubrey Black; daughters, Kay (Tim) Parker and Annette Anderson; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Sheldon Black and Jimmy Black; sister, Mary Lou Beam; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Nov. 28, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Estle Sanders, Brother Ron Case and Brother Jason Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 p.m., Monday 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m.-1 p.m..
