Donald Avans, 78, of Trenton, died Monday evening, Dec. 11, 2017. He was a graduate of Davis High School, class of 1957, and had been a carpenter and an insurance agent with Liberty National for many years. Mr. Avans was an avid horseman and a member of the AQHA (the American Quarter Horse Association). He had also helped organize the Davis Fire Department. Mr. Avans was of the Baptist faith and a member of the White Oak Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Euna Smith Avans; wife, Reba Avans; great-granddaughter, Samara Powell; and two sisters, Charlcie Cloud and Patricia Phillips.
Surviving include his daughter, Susan Annette Cerutti; fiancée, Pat Tinker; sisters Charlotte Richard and Neocia Bolton; brothers Ronald Avans and Larry Avans; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lonnie Denny officiating. Interment will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
