Michael “Mike” Abney, 67, of Trenton, died early Sunday morning, February 4, 2018. He was a Vietnam veteran of the the U.S. Marine Corps, a member of American Legion Post 106 and a founding partner of the Post 106 Honor Guard. Mr. Abney was instrumental in developing a veterans’ outreach program for the incarcerated. He was a fellow Craft Mason of Trenton Lodge F&AM 179. Mike was an avid IHRA drag car racing enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents, G.C. and Anita Green Abney.

Surviving include his sister, Patti (John) Thomas of Cartersville, Ga., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hearth Hospice, 2636 Battlefield Pkwy., Ste. 101, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA 30742.

Funeral services with military honors will be at noon on Tuesday, February 6, in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday at Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton, Ga.
