Elizabeth Ann Bracken

Elizabeth Ann Bracken, 84, formerly of Wildwood, died Friday, March 2, 2018.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Martha Higdon; husband, Bailor Bracken; brothers Willard and Bill Higdon; and sister Nancy Long.

She is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Terry) Woody; son, Rev. Tim B. (Kellie) Bracken; sister Mary Jennings; brother Harold Higdon; grandchildren, Joshua Bracken, Hannah (Daniel) Kozar and Chelsea (Vanya) Obert; great-granddaughter, Ella Obert, and twin great-grandsons, James and Pepa Kozar.

Elizabeth spent a career in the United States Post Office, serving in Wildwood, Trenton = and Rising Fawn, GA. Her life revolved around Jesus, her family and church. She served Wauhatchie United Methodist Church in every capacity imaginable and touched many lives by her teaching, example and kind spirit. Along with her husband, Bailor, she decided that the church was going to be the priority family “activity”; therefore, if the doors were open, the Brackens were at the church, a decision that will make a difference for generations to come and yet to be.

Funeral services will be at Wauhatchie United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 8, at 1 p.m. The body will lie in state prior to the service for visitation at the church beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The Rev. Tommy Messer and Rev. John Stanley will officiate. Interment will be beside her husband at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Vanya Obert, Joshua Bracken, Dale Hidgon, Mike Hixson, Daniel Kozar and James Parker.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Wauhatchie UMC or Camp Lookout.
