David Flatt

David Roth Flatt, 65, of Rising Fawn died peacefully in Erlanger Hospital Saturday evening, April 21, of complications of diabetes. He was surrounded by family who remember him as a gentle, tenderhearted, kind soul. David had great empathy and an understanding heart for the hurting. He rarely came across something broken that he couldn’t fix and found a perfect niche at Hutcheson Medical Center where he served for 26 years.

Though he craved solitude, one of his greatest joys was making people laugh. Oh, how he could make us laugh!

David is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Virginia Claire Roth Flatt. He is survived by his son, William Thomas (Flatt) Rogers; his siblings, Sharon (William) Bell of Dalton, Diane (Jack) Parker of Trussville, Ala., Charles (Louannah) Flatt Jr. of Rising Fawn Paul (Erin) Flatt of Trenton, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Visitation will be at Ryan Funeral Home, 11415 S. Main Street, Trenton, on Thursday, April 26 from 3-6 p.m., followed by a brief memorial service. In lieu of flowers, honorariums may be made to www.diabetesresearch.org/give.

The Flatt family is profoundly indebted to the EMS crew in Dade County and to Erlanger Hospital for the compassionate care of the physicians and nurses in the ER and MICU.
