Herman Eugene “Sonny” Stephens, 70, of Trenton, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He loved reading newspapers and magazines and singing gospel and country songs, especially “Long Black Train.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Opal Stephens, sisters Arthell Carrell and Wanda Rinehart, and an infant brother.

Survivors include his loving family: sisters Jessie Whitley, Gail Goins, Joy McClain, Elizabeth Heaton and Iris Sue Cloud; brothers William Stephens, Timmy Stephens, C.W. Stephens and David Stephens; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 27, at 2 p.m. EDT in the Trenton chapel with Reverend Oron Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. EDT.
