James Cecil (J.C.) Abbott, 92, of the New Salem community, died Monday, June 11, 2018. He was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Abbott; grandson Kenneth Lanier; parents, Jim and Avie Abbott; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia McNabb, Fort Oglethorpe, and Sarah Lanier, LaFayette; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters Mamie Clark and Lois Cross; brothers Larry Abbott and Elmer Abbott; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EDT Thursday, June 14 in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Jodie Ihfe and Reverend John Stanley officiating. Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8 p.m. EDT and Thursday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Salem United Methodist Church or Hawkins Cemetery Fund.
