L.J. Stephens, 88, died Sunday, June 24, 2018, in Clermont, Fla. He was a former resident of the New Salem community. He was a loving husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Vennie Avans Stephens; sons Albert Ray and Rodney Stephens; daughter Faye Craig; grandsons Curtis Wayne Stephens II and Jason Vaughn; brothers C.W. (Pete) Stephens and Doyle Stephens; sister Amalee Price.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Geraldine Stephens; daughter Joyce Sampley; sons Curtis Wayne Stephens and Ricky Stephens; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Wavolee Phillips, Maxlee Christopher, Cleta Kirby and Gayla Fowler; brothers Willard Stephens, Wayne Stephens and Durand Stephens; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. EDT Saturday, June 30, in the Trenton chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Burton officiating. Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday 4-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. EDT.
