Luther Hartline



Luther Martin Hartline, 90, of Head River, born Dec. 16, 1927, died Saturday, August 11, 2018.

Mr. Hartline was employed by Happy Valley Dairy Farms in Rossville prior to fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a farmer. Luther and Wanda moved to Dade County and have remained some 61 years. Mr. Hartline was a member of the Tri-State Georgia Cattlemen’s Association, where he served a term as president. He was honored as Outstanding Cattleman of the Decade for Excellence In Beef Cattle Production on Dec. 9, 2013, by the Tri-State chapter. Mr. Hartline was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Boyd Lee Hartline; parents, Walter and Rosie Bell Hartline; sisters and brothers, Joyce Hartline (Vernon) Kirkpatrick, James (Nellie) Hartline, Wayne (Willeen) Hartline, Sanford (Mary) Hartline, Albert Hartline and Glen Hartline.

He is survived by his loving family, wife of 65 years, Wanda Lucille Chapman Hartline; daughter, Loretta (Larry) Roper; sons, Kenneth M. Hartline and Dennis (Janet) Hartline; granddaughters, Lori and Heather Simmons; grandson, B.J. (Missy) Hartline; daughter-in-law, Teresa Hartline; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hartline Maxwell and Yvonne Hartline; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at noon Monday, Aug. 13, at New Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hixon and Reverend J.D. Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Little River Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 pm. at the funeral home and Monday 11 a.m.-noon at New Salem Baptist Church
