Derrell Lee “Sam” Ellis, 76, of Bryant, Ala., died at his home on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, after a battle with cancer. Mr. Ellis was a boilermaker, mechanic and iron worker. He was an avid antique car collector and a member of both the Masons' and Shriners' lodges. He was of the Baptist faith. To his family he was a loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his son Derrell Lee Ellis Jr.; sister Bobbie Jo Davis; and brothers Wayne Ellis and Kenneth Brown.
Surviving include his wife, Johnnie Que Fairris Ellis, of Bryant; daughter Robbie Lynn (Michael) Terry of Rome, Ga.; son Kenneth Waylan (Sharon) Ellis of Bryant; sisters Susie Culbert of Trenton and Penny Haswell of Wildwood; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, in the chapel with Rev. Greg Ellis officiating.
Family will receive friends noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, at Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton.
