John “Bud” F. Holcomb, 74, of Rising Fawn, died at his home Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2018. Mr. Holcomb was a timber cutter and saddle maker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Mooneyham Holcomb, daughter Carla “Sissy” Jean Holcomb, four brothers and four sisters.
Surviving include his loving wife of 54 years, Ethel Goins “Boy Blue” Holcomb of Rising Fawn; his children Billy (Cindy) Holcomb of Hixson, Tim (Nancy) Holcomb of Ringgold, John Andy (Lisa) Holcomb of East Ridge, Tenn., Karen (Chris) Foutz of Gainesville, Ga., and Jason Mealor of Chickamauga; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Ricky and Randy Holcomb, sisters Nina Harris and Gertrude York; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, in the chapel with Michael Dunwoody officiating. Interment followed in Deer Head Cove Cemetery.
