Susie Mae Gilbert, 88, of Bryant, Ala., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Susie was a member of the Ruritan Club and had helped found the Higdon Rescue Squad and North Sand Mountain High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Gilbert; daughter Barbara Gilbert Guffey; parents, Julius and Vinnie Cagle; four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughters Bernice Gilbert East (Jim); Theresa Jackson (Brian Scott); Chasity McGee (Troy); sons, Burnell H. Gilbert (Linda) and Davy Gilbert; nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. EST Friday, Dec. 14, in the Bryant chapel with Brother Steve Camp officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. and Friday 2-4 p.m. EST.
