Nora Alcorn



Nora L. Alcorn, 69, of Ider, Ala., died on Wednesday, January 2, 2018, at her home.

Mrs. Alcorn attended Ider High School before moving in 1964 to Yuma, Ariz., where she lived for many years. She moved back to her true home of Alabama in 1978. Just like her mother, she was in the restaurant business and served as the food and beverage manager at Jason’s in Chattanooga, later becoming head of housekeeping at the Days Inn Rivergate and retiring in 2006. She was an avid race fan, her favorite driver was Kyle Bush, and she loved the Crimson Tide.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Billie Holland; sons David, John and Robert Alcorn; and brother Billy Ray Holland.

Surviving include her sister, Shirley Angulo of Chula Vista, Calif.; sister Wanda (Tom) Staples of Deltona, Fla.; sister Marquetta Holland Walker of Ider; sister Donna Holland Price of Trenton; brother Johnny “Squeeky” Holland of Bryant; brother Bradley Holland of Flat Rock, Ala.; niece Denise (Shawn) Carroll of Ider; niece Terra (TJ) Kocis of Delton, Fla.; niece Sara Angulo of Chula Vista; nephew Frank Angulo Jr. of Chula Vista; nephew Johnny Ray Holland of Bryant; niece Nora Angulo of Chula Vista; niece Ava Brooke (Nathan) Jackson of Attalla, Ala.; nephew Nelson Sarah) Holland of Scottsboro, Ala.; nephew Zach Radetski of Kimball, Tenn.; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, in the chapel.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday at Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton, Ga.
