Nancy Bernyce Thomison


Nancy Bernyce Stone Thomison, 88, of Trenton, died today, Wednesday, May 22, 2019, in a local health care facility.

Bernyce was born in Cedar Bluff, Nebraska, in 1930 to the late Ploney Ladd Stone and Lemual A. Stone. She was a graduate of Rossville High School, class of 1948, and married Jay Thomison on March 11, 1955, while living in St. Elmo. She was employed by Combustion Engineering from 1959 until 1961, when it became U.S. Pipe & Foundry. She retired from there in May of 1990.

Bernyce and Jay attended services in Alabama with her parents until 1974, after which they attended First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga until their move to Trenton in 1979.

In addition to her parents, Bernyce was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kathleen Boatner Stone, and brother-in-law, Dallas Hilliard Plemmons.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Jesse “Jay” Lamar Thomison; brother, Rev. Dr. Virgil R. Stone; sister, Zonie Stone Plemmons; and nieces, Nancy Plemmons Craig, Jo Ann Stone Willhite and Joycee Stone Herring. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Virgil Stone officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
