Drew Garrad McKaig of Rising Fawn, born on January 13, 1998, died Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the age of 21. A 2016 graduate of Dade County High School and a proud 2019 graduate of Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Florida, Garrad was employed after graduation by White Lightning Harley Davidson in Chattanooga as a technician.
Garrad was loved by all who met him and lived life to the fullest with many close friendships. He was only 12 when his mother passed away, and the deep connection between the two of them was a love like no other. Motorcycles were more than a career to Garrad; riding and working on them was his passion. He also enjoyed going hunting and hanging out with friends, and he always had a good time no matter the situation. A loving family member, Garrad was a very intelligent young man and was lost way too soon. He will be missed by many.
Garrad is preceded in death by his loving mother, Liza Masters; grandparents, Leonard and Helen McKaig, Susie Masters; and uncle, Michael Masters.
He is survived by many proud family members including his father, Jerry (Karen) McKaig; grandfather, Earl Masters; sisters, Krista (Tony) McKaig and Lorna McKaig; one brother, Keith (Mary Lynn) McKaig; nieces and nephew, Lilly Bethune, Leah and Isaac McKaig; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Garrad’s life will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday October 23, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with his uncle, Pastor Joe McKaig, officiating. Burial will be in Hawkins Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on
Thursday 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
