Joyce Blaylock


Joyce Juanita Blaylock, 69, of the New Salem community, died on Friday, November 8, 2019. She was born March 17, 1950, in Mentone, Alabama, to the late William and Ruth Flannigan.

Survivors include her loving family, husband, Jim Blaylock; daughters, Heather (Raymond) Evans and Katherine (Trippe) York; sons, Jay (Candace) and Charles (Teresa) Blaylock; grandchildren, Levi and Autumn Hulgan, Brittney, Cody, Alisa and Dylan Blaylock, Garrett and Bryson Blaylock and Sarah and Hannah York; great-grandchildren, Hadley Gregory, Harper Gregory and Sophie Hulgan; sisters, Charlotte (Sherman) Flannigan Goss and Virginia (Jeff) Flannigan Morris; brother, Mack (Debbie) Flannigan; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Joyce was a longtime active member of New Salem Baptist Church and American Legion Post #106 Ladies' Auxiliary. She loved the Lord and enjoyed witnessing to those she came in contact with. She loved to cook for her family and friends, enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family and was a huge Alabama fan. Joyce was known by some as the “Iris Lady” and could identify over 500 different kinds of iris.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 11, at New Salem Baptist Church with Brother Jim Hixson and Brother Gary Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Hawkins Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday 4-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home and Monday 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church.
