Edward L. Pete” Smith, 72, of Bryant, Ala., died today, Monday, January 6, 2020. He was a strong Christian man and a member of Canaanland Baptist Church. Pete was well known for his love of old Plymouth Road Runners and was an avid drag racer. He was retired after 43 years from Cherokee Warehouse.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Janie Smith, son, Blake Smith, and brother, Dewey Smith.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna (Robbie) Williams; son, Bradley (Kellie) Smith; sister, Sue Smith; brothers, Merle Smith, Brent (Mary Jo) Smith; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, January 8, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Jim Hixon and Brother Darren Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from noon-2 p.m.
