Henry Luther Brooks, 76, of Flat Rock, Ala., died at his residence this morning, Friday, 21 February 2020. He was employed by the City of Chattanooga as director of city services until his retirement in 2000. As a member of Trenton United Methodist Church, he had worked on several committees and as a youth leader.
Henry was also a member of Valley Hunting Club of Paint Rock, Ala., and an avid fisherman. As a volunteer, he supported SpiritHorse Freedom Ranch, where he taught special-needs children archery, horseback riding, swimming and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Elbert Luther Brooks and Helen Virginia Harris Brooks.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Lucy Brooks; his daughter, Michelle (Clinton) Dalton of Fort Payne, Ala.; his sons, Doug Brooks of Charlotte, N.C., and Mark Brooks of Flat Rock; his granddaughters, Shelby (Jeremi) Harleston, Landen Brooks, and Ansley Brooks; his sister, Ginger Brown of Tunnel Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. EST Sunday, 23 February, at Trenton United Methodist Church with Rev. Reece Fauscett officiating.
Family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8:p.m. EST at Ryan Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at Trenton United Methodist Church. Internment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
