Joanna Massey Taylor

Mrs. Joanna Massey Taylor, born October 1, 1933, died peacefully while being cared for by her aide Lisa and nurse Rita on the morning of March 11, 2020, at the age of 86 at NHC Healthcare in Ft Oglethorpe. Moore Funeral Home in Trenton respectfully cared for and attended the funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Taylor, lovingly known as Jo, will be missed by all who knew her. She touched the lives of many friends and family throughout the years and especially impacted the children who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Massey and Mary Johnson Massey, as well as her husband, Harlan Taylor, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jo’s memory will live on through the minds and hearts of her sister-in-law Vonnie Taylor Sharpton, numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers honored to carry Mrs. Taylor were cousins Larry Everett, Barry Everett, Rufus (Freddy) Massey, Tracy Massey, Daniel Massey and very close friend and neighbor Curtis Smith.

She had a graveside service at Hawkins Cemetery with the reading of the 139th Psalm, which was her favorite, by her friend and cousin Walter Brannon.

Jo was honored and her life celebrated by those who knew her well. Short memories and funny stories were shared by Walter Brannon, Daryl Massey, Sylvia Everett Brannon, Elaine Blaylock Thomas, Connie Ward, Winfred Rufus (Freddy) Massey Jr., Curtis Smith and Winfred Massey Sr. The service closed in a word of prayer.
