Alice Marie Sutton


GRIFFIN, Ga.--Alice Marie Sutton died Sunday, April 19, 2020, at her home in Williamson, Ga. She was born in Johnson City. Tenn., the first baby born of the year in Washington County in 1940. She was one of 12 children and the last one to pass away. In 1976, she married William G “Bill” Sutton and relocated to Trenton. Bill and Marie Sutton were members of Calvary Baptist Church until November 2013 when they relocated to Williamson, where they became members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Zebulon, Ga.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Eliza Sparks, daughter, Janice Knight, and son-in-law, William Allen Knight.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Sutton; son, Tommy (Julie) Ford; children, Debbie (Steve) Eldridge, Denny (Stephanie) Sutton and Darla (Gary) Watkins; grandchildren, Tyler Ford, Katie Ford, Shayna Tudors, Zackary Pike, Hannah Pike, William Allen Knight Jr, Timothy Knight, Rachel Knight-Vennest, Amber Gross, Heath Higdon, Heather Sutton and Dusty Cloud; great-grandchildren, Liam Ford, Alysa Rose, Joshua Rose, Kailey Vennest, Victoria Knight, Sawyer Cloud and Sophie Cloud; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Due to the current health regulations, the family will have a private service on Wednesday, April 20, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home in Trenton with Brother David Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
