Johnny C. Wallen, 87, of Wildwood, died Saturday, April 18, 2020, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Wildwood, Mr. Wallen was a graduate of Dade County High School and a member and deacon of New England Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force where he obtained the rank of staff sergeant and retired as an ironworker and member of Ironworkers Union #704. Johnny was a member of the Trenton Masonic Lodge #179 F&AM, the Alhambra Shrine and musician’s local #80. He also served as vice president and member of the board of directors of the Dade County Historical Society and the Dade County Industrial Development Authority. Johnny loved his farm and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Gertie Smith Wallen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia Blevins Wallen; daughters, Alice (Terry) Sutphin and Sandra (George) Reed; grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Reed, Kane (Emily) Sutphin and Alice Nicole Reed; great-granddaughter, Virginia Claire Reed; sisters, Lib Street and Ruth Moore; and several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Wallen will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
