Elizabeth Middlebrooks


Elizabeth Eulala Sharp Middlebrooks, 87, of Chickamauga, died Thursday, April 30, 2020 at her residence. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was known to her family as “Nannie.”

Elizabeth was born on July 14, 1932, in Fort Payne, Alabama, to the late Wallace Doyal and Katie Sharp. She married the love of her life, Ernest “Junior” Middlebrooks, on May 22, 1948, and they were together for 67 wonderful years. Junior passed away in 2016.

Following her retirement from Mar-Mode Hosiery Mill, Elizabeth enjoyed working with her husband in their wood-working shop, cooking, doing crafts, embroidery, and fabric painting. She was well-known for her awesome chess cake and homemade sourdough bread. She was a member of the Tiftonia Holiness Church for 46 years.

Survivors include her daughter and caregiver, Karen Middlebrooks Lowrance; son, Lebron (Tammy) Middlebrooks; grandson, Christopher (Charity) Lowrance; granddaughters, Holly (Trent) Heard, and Heather (Tyson) Henshaw; great-grandchildren, Clay and Kellie Lowrance, Haylie & Hayden Heard, Tytus and Triton Henshaw; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Brother Troy Lawson and Brother Darrell Townson officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens South in Rossville.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 2, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton, Ga.
