Bill Yancy

William “Bill” Chester Yancy Jr, 74, of Ider, Ala., died Saturday, May 2, 2020. Bill was a member of the Holiness Church for over 38 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and was just a few credits shy of his master’s degree. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after serving two terms. He was the owner operator of Yancy’s body shop for over 20 years. He worked for BASF corporation for 15 years selling auto paint systems.

He loved vintage cars and most of the family photos included ones to prove that! He was very generous, always willing to help those he felt were less fortunate than himself, even if he was the less fortunate. He was an extremely talented artist who could recreate anything. Bill had a witty sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He loved serving the Lord, playing the guitar and Alabama football. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia Yancy; daughters, Cindy (Chad) Spurgeon and Michelle (Tony) Kessler; son, Nathan (Marina) Yancy; son in-law, Billy Wagner; sister, Shirley Horton; grandchildren, Colby, Austin and Mikayla Wagner, Sam, Luke and Adrianna Yancy and Cooper Spurgeon; great-grandchildren, Quinn and Sawyer Wagner. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 4, at Brown Gap Cemetery. Brother Brent Michaels and Brother Edwin Spurgeon will officiate the service.
