James Rufus Ross Sr., 79, of Trenton, died Sunday, June 21, 2020. James, better known as Rufus, was a kind and gentle man, a member of Trenton Ministry Center and a graduate of Dade High School. He spent a short time in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Singer Cobble.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane, and his parents, Raymond and Georgia Ross.
Survivors include his son James (Stacey) Ross; two daughters Jacqueline (Bobby) Walker and Michele (Travis) Womack; stepsons Mark, Tim and Ken (Cindy) Wilson; five grandchildren, Stefanie Edgeworth, Timothy Sinard, Tiffany Bain, Alicia Ross and Anna Ball; five great-grandchildren; sister Geneva (Bill) Clemmons; brother-in-law Robert (Myra) Johnson; sisters-in-law Wanda (Gary) Tallent and Charlotte Lynn; three nephews he was very proud of, David, Tony and Dennis Clemmons; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at the Trenton chapel with Brother Randy Tinker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Cemetery on Yankee Road, Head River, Georgia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, June 24, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. EDT.
